Country experiences with data linkage initiatives

Abstract This session highlights the experience from two countries in data linkage: Canada and UK. Canada's ten provinces three territories have primary responsibility for organization delivery of health care services supervision providers. As such, many linkage initiatives are at provincial level, recent Health Data Research Network aims to facilitate access multi- province researchers. Also Social Linkage Environment (SDLE) represents a national effort led by federal government (Statistics Canada). The SDLE has centrally maintained ‘key register' containing new identifiers based on number identifying characteristics which used link wide range sets, including Labour Force Survey, surveys, hospital discharge database, census data, crime, education, mental health, etc. Thus, is not consolidated database per se, but tool other databases, potential use scientific research. Similar Canada, different nations UK operate separate initiatives. One internationally renowned Clinical Practice Datalink (CPRD), reflects important role GPs. CPRD brings together de-identified microdata GP practices basis respective electronic practice information systems. collected includes demographic details, service providers, clinical presentation, referrals, vaccinations, laboratory findings medication prescriptions, with ability sets research pathway. 2019, covers 42 million patients been more than 2000 publications that researched issues such as drug safety, use, effectiveness policy measures, development risk factors.
